First Teacher Home Visiting Program is a free home visitation program that provides support to pregnant women, mothers, fathers, and other caregivers of young children in their homes.

Participants are provided with prenatal support, activities, books, and learning materials for children who are 5 years old and younger. First Teacher Home Visiting in Alabama utilizes three national models — two of which are used at The Gift of Life: Parents as Teachers and Nurse-Family Partnership.

In addition to adhering to program guidelines, Gift of Life case managers also link families to community resources, offer support through connections with other families, and guidance in setting and achieving personal and family goals.
